The Position:

Love marketing, advertising, data, and working with the community? Join our airport team! OurMarketing Specialist role uses flight and passenger data to shape airport external advertising strategies and creative concepts, recommends media buys that encourage passenger use of McGhee Tyson Airport, and works with potential clients to generate airport revenue through leasing airport terminal advertising signage and display space. The Marketing Specialist will also promote general aviation activity at Downtown Island Airport. Youll meet with airlines and community partners to support airport services. The Marketing Specialist must be able to produce clear reports, presentations, and documents to support Airport Authority activities.Individuals who believe this position aligns with their qualifications and professional interests and would enjoy an opportunity to support airport marketing and advertising within the community are encouraged to review the information below.

Responsibilities:

Below represents a summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this role. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this list of responsibilities.

  • Gathers and analyzes flight and passenger data to develop optimal marketing strategies.
  • Develops and recommends advertising strategy, creative concepts, media buys, and production options. Performs other related tasks necessary to produce quality, effective airport advertising in the community while adhering to established budgets.
  • Conducts sales presentations to prospective and current advertisers, and generates revenue through the leasing of airport terminal signage and displays, Develops and maintains relationships with all airport advertising accounts.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with companies and organizations that use significant amounts of air travel. Must be able to occasionally travel.
  • Produces and presents professional, high-quality reports, presentations, and documents.
  • Completes special projects at the direction of the Vice President of Marketing and the President.
  • Attends, coordinates, and/or hosts various special events outside normal business hours such as conferences, trade shows, networking events, etc.
  • Performs related work as required.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is an outgoing, creative, datadriven marketing professional with a strong understanding of modern advertising strategies and media planning. They are proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to translate data into actionable insights, and confidence delivering sales presentations and building relationships with advertisers. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates effectively, manages multiple priorities with ease, and is flexible to work outside normal business hours and travel as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, business administration, or aviation management or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in advertising, marketing services, and business analytics

Salary and Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $65,601.89 – $85,283.01 (DOE), with the final offer based on experience. MKAA offers a very competitive benefit package for this position, including medical/dental/vision benefits, disability/life insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, and a 401(a)-retirement program.
